Hot and Sour Soup Recipe

Soups are a great appetizer. Different types offer a variety of flavors and textures. More importantly, a bowl of healthy soup with legumes, vegetables and other fiber-rich ingredients nourish the body with essential nutrients. It has also been found that soup consumption helps maintain a healthy weight – according to a recent study published in the British Journal of Nutrition, soup eaters have better overall eating habits and tend to weigh less compared to those who are not.

Ingredients for Hot and Sour Soup:

  • Chicken stock 3 cups
  • Egg 1
  • Carrot 2
  • Capsicum 2
  • Chicken boneless 1 cup
  • Green onion leaves 1 cup
  • Medium cabbage 1 cup
  • Beans sprout 1 cup
  • Sesame seed oil few drops
  • Sugar 1 tsp
  • Chili sauce 1 tsp
  • Chicken cube flour 1 tbsp
  • Black pepper powder 1/2 tsp
  • White pepper powder 1/2 tsp
  • White vinegar 2 tbsp
  • Soya sauce 3 tbsp
  • Oil 3 tbsp
  • Salt to taste

Method :

  1. Put chicken stock in pot, put soya sauce, vinegar, flour, chili sauce, salt, sugar, white pepper, cabbage, carrot and capsicum and cook on low flame.
  2. When it boils, put chicken and cook more for 5 minutes.
  3. Then dissolve corn flour, put in stock and stir it.
  4. When soup is thick, put egg.
  5. Then put sesame seed oil, beans sprout and green onion and serve hot.
